Aguluzigbo a town in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State has been thrown in chaos as the struggle as to who occupies the traditional stole of the community as the custodian of its culture and traditional takes a different turn.
This started with the resignation of the Chairman of the Adhoc committee setup by the town union to conduct the igweship election over personal reasons which was perceived as threat to his life which he does not want to make public, this was followed by an official letter written by the Director General of the campaign committee of Engr. Chuka Asouzu who is on of the igweship candidates stating the invalidation of signatures he signed on the ballot paper which was supposed to be used for the election on an earlier date which did not hold,he further stated that his camp were not duly informed of the new election date which was put out by the state government.
These developments were followed up by a protest by the youths of the community at the state government house in Awka stating boldly there grievance with the state governments interference in the election while also pointing accusing finger at the former national chairman of APGA and immediate past senator of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone Chief Victor Umeh that he is the one fueling the state government’s interference in the igweship election in the community and warned that he should desist from doing so.
The State Government has put out a later stating that the igweship election will hold today 15th January 2020 we await further developments on this matter.
