In solemnity, the people of Anambra South senatorial district have demanded that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah immediately cease exploiting and politicizing the recent violent incident in his hometown, Nnewi. His longstanding poor representation in the Senate may have fueled agitation and subsequent violence in the community. Ndi Anambra expects him to work in harmony with the state government to address and investigate the root causes of the recent violent incident, thereby bringing perpetrators to justice rather than seeking political gain from the loss of life.

Senator Ubah needs to prioritize addressing the issues affecting the people of Anambra South senatorial district to complement Governor Soludo’s efforts in areas of security, human capital development, and economic and infrastructure development. Despite Ubah’s known allocation of constituency funds, he has failed to attract federal projects, and secure federal government grants for vital initiatives such as establishing a vocational training institute, which would significantly benefit the youth in Anambra South senatorial. Distributing indomie instant noodles as his constituency projects is not sufficient. It’s time for Senator Ubah to take tangible actions to improve the lives of his constituents.

Amid the recent incident, the people of Anambra South senatorial district have unequivocally expressed concern that Ubah’s solar lights and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras —the few he bought at the controversial cost of N500 million and only in use in his village in Nnewi, have reached the end of their lifespan and no longer meet the standards of modern security technology in their just six months of usage, even though he has continued to fail in his many attempts to politicize them.
