Unidentified gunmen have killed a policeman and injured another in an attack at Eziama-Uli Health Centre, in Ihiala Local Council of Anambra State.
Eyewitness said the attack took place during a free medical outreach organised by Uli Global Ambassadors for Development Initiative (ULIGADI) on Wednesday.
According to the eyewitness, the gunmen shot sporadically, sending patients who came for the exercise and the administrators scampering to safety.
The witness, who pleaded anonymity said the hoodlums swooped on the medical personnel and patients at the health centre, adding that a police officer was killed during the attack, while another officer was injured.
“The gunmen attacked the venue of the free medical outreach organised by Uli Global Ambassadors for Development Initiative (ULIGADI).
“One officer died after the unfortunate incident. The second officer is at the hospital receiving medical attention.
“I have spoken to him. I have my people with him. We are looking for the third officer who has since left Eziama,” the witness said.
Efforts to reach Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ikenga Tochukwu to comment on the issue failed, as calls put across his known telephone number did not go through.
