A short story of how our team provided support to our boss, Gov. Soludo, during the emotional moments of his daughter’s traditional wedding ceremony held in his modest Isuofia home. The ceremony was deeply significant for Soludo, as his first daughter, who was the third daughter to be born in the Soludos dynasty in over 140 years, and the second daughter to get married in the Soludos dynasty were getting married traditionally. On two separate occasions, he struggled to hold back his tears, evidence of the overwhelming emotions that gripped him.
The first noticeable moment unfolded during the “Igbankwu” custom, as Adaora knelt before her father for the exchange of palm wine. Despite the subdued atmosphere, it was evident that Soludo was on the brink of tears as he fulfilled the solemn traditions. The second emotionally charged moment occurred when it was time for Adaora to be handed over to the family of the groom. As he accompanied his daughter to her new family’s car, the weight of the moment was intense for Soludo and his family.
Throughout these emotional moments, Mazi and I stood steadfastly by our boss, providing emotional support through songs and humor. Our presence was a source of comfort to him during these overwhelming moments, as he leaned on our friendship. We all bid farewell to Adaora and her new husband —Arinze, as they embarked on the next chapter of their lives together. It was a deeply emotional occasion for the Soludos dynasty, marking the continuation of their family breakthrough.
