IWA JI OMOR ANAUKWU 2024: Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume Celebrates Bountiful Harvest, Calls on Ndi Anambra to Embrace Agricultural Revolution
All roads led to Omor Anaukwu Kingdom as Eze Igulube of Omor Community, HRH Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume MON, marked this year’s IWA JI OMOR FESTIVAL at his palace in Omor, Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The epic event, held on Saturday, August 24th 2024, was to appreciate Chukwuokike (God the Creator) for this year’s bountiful harvest and to seek His continuous blessings upon the people.
Speaking during the event, Eze Igulube of Omor Community, HRH Igwe Chris Oranu Chidume MON, thanked God for blessing the people with rain and a good harvest this year.
He also commended Ndi Omor for their commitment and dedication to agricultural production in Omabala and the State at large.
Igwe Chris Chidume, who is also an industrial magnate, emphasized that returning to agriculture will bring about positive change in the Local Governments and the State, as well as impact the nation’s economy affirmatively.
The Igwe commended Governor Charles Soludo CFR for the infrastructural revolution being witnessed in all the Local Government Areas, including Ayamelum Community.
However, Igwe Oranu appealed to Anambra State Government to address the poor condition of the road leading to Ayamelum, which urgently needs intervention.
The Igwe further added that having good access roads would be a major boost to the predominantly farming communities of Ayamelum, who often face difficulties in transporting their farm produce to major cities in the State.
He also called on the good people of Anambra State to embrace the ongoing agricultural revolution launched by Governor Prof. Charles Soludo as a viable solution to hunger and other factors hindering the State’s growth and development.
His words read in part:
“Returning to farming will reduce unemployment and drastically lower poverty and insecurity in the land. So, I call on the youth to embrace agriculture so that we can feed our people, our state, and, collectively, feed the nation,” he said.
The epic event attracted several distinguished personalities, including the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze, and his entourage; MD Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Mr. Chido Obidiegwu; Chief Paul Chukwuma (Onwa Umueri); Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.
Also present were the Traditional Ruler of Aguleri, HRM Igwe Mike Idigo (Eze Udo Aguleri); the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, HRH Igwe Ben Izuchukwu Emeka (Iwe Okebo II Umueri), among others.
The high points of the event included a special prayer, the slicing of yam for the proper Iwa Ji Festival, cultural dance, and masquerade display.
