The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 32-year-old Mrs. Ogechi Ofoma for allegedly inflicting severe physical abuse, including burns from a hot knife, on her seven-year-old daughter, Oluebube Ofoma, in the Awada-Obosi area of Idemili North Local Government Area.
The rescue followed a swift intervention by concerned residents and security personnel from the Ibollo Community in Awada-Obosi, who intercepted the situation on the evening of September 13, 2026, and handed the suspect over to the police.

CP Nnanna has partnered with the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure the young victim receives immediate medical treatment, protective care, and welfare support.
The command lauded the vigilance of the Ibollo Community security team and local residents, whose rapid response prevented further harm to the child and enabled the suspect’s immediate arrest. Police authorities reaffirmed that the safety and best interests of the victim remain the top priority as legal proceedings move forward.
