It will be recalled that in the heat of the #ENDSARS protest all over the country that one Bonaventure Mokwe who is the owner of the demolished UpperClass Hotel Onitsha put out a lengthy post of his experience with the defunct SARS unit of the Nigerian Police in Awkuzu Anambra State then head by CSP James Nwafor,He later forwarded an official petition to the Anambra State Panel of Enquiry on Police Brutality and Extra Judicial Killings.
The panel sat yesterday being 26th of November 2020 and the matter was called up and a surprise sprang up with the appearance of counsel to former Governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Obi appearing with a claim that the panel lacks the power to hear this petition as the matter is already before a judge in the appeal court.
In response counsel to Mr Bonaventure Mokwe called Me Peter Obi a meddlesome interloper (busy body) for coming to the panel because it is supposed to be the Nigerian Police that should be the respondent to the petition.
It will be recalled that Mr Bonaventure Mokwe accused Mr Peter Obi of using the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) to intimidate him over a personal matter with him and demolished his hotel while he was Governor of Anambra State.
The big question here is,Is there more to this petition than what meets the eye.we will keep you posted on the proceedings of the panel.
