In thanksgiving to God and for the betterment of mankind, the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State officially handed over his official palace compound, including its buildings, to the Pallotttine Christian community, a religious body from the Roman Catholic Church.
The Palatine Christian community whose headquarters is situated in Rome were basically known for training special Catholic priests as well as engaging in human capital development.
According to the traditional ruler, HRM Igwe Peter Anugwu, the two-story building, which includes about 10 sitting rooms, over 18 standard rooms, and a basement, was constructed by a foreign company more than 44 years ago.
Igwe Anugwu explained that his decision to gift the entire palace, with the exception of the building where he resides, is a gesture of gratitude to God, who has blessed him with prosperity. He emphasized that he invited fellow traditional rulers, government representatives, and a few others to witness the event to ensure it is properly documented while he is alive.
In his response, the leader of the Pallottine Christian community from Rome Very Rev Fr Zenon Hanas SAC Superior General, Pallottines world wide wide who also was on the visit with Very Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Murphy SAC the
Vice Superior General and Very Rev. Fr. Vanderlei Cargnin the General burser, expressed delight over the donation, calling it a special gift. The Pallottine Superior General assured that the palace would serve as a non-denominational space for souls to be won to God. The priest prayed for God’s strength and guidance for Igwe Mbaukwu as he continues to serve as the traditional ruler of the community.
Traditional rulers from eight communities in the state, along with the President General of the community, Mr. Ikechukwu Afuekwe. The immediate past Secretary-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Chief Okeke Ogene, and other distinguished guests, were present at the event. Photo session and the presentation of a commemorative gift from the Pallottine community formed the highlights of the ceremony.
