Anambra State’s Mrs. Bridget Nnabeze of Modebe Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha has emerged overall best teacher in public secondary schools in Nigeria.
This accolade came at the presidential award which is held to celebrate teachers who have distinguished themselves in the teaching profession and in commemoration of the world teachers celebration,also at the same event Mrs. Chiamaka of Our Lady’s High School, Onitsha won the second best school administrator, while Akpakogwe Central School Ogidi came fourth in Public Primary Schools category, Anambra State also won the fifth best teacher in the primary schools category.
Speaking at the event, President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of State, Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, saluted Nigerian teachers and education officers who kept faith with the profession over the years despite the obvious challenges.
The President noted that the World Teachers’ Day, WTD, celebration is meant to create awareness on the status of teachers in the society as enunciated by the United Nations
Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and International Labour Organization in 1994.
