The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has abolished collection of levies from vulcanizers, wheelbarrow pushers and hawkers in the state.
Governor Soludo handed down the warning at Government house, Awka during an open bid auction session organized by the state government for a class of flying revenues across the state.
The Governor threatened to to dissolve with immediate effect any market union that collects any form of levies from Vulcanizers, wheelbarrow pushers or hawkers and asked them to report anyone that collects money from them in the name of government.
Governor Soludo who stressed that the bid is part of the revolution to give value for money, stated that his administration is working to build back the connection between the citizens and the government because the people employed them to work for them.
He emphasized that for every society to function, everyone must pay their fair share, noting that his government is working to reduce the tax incidents on the people, even though people have forgotten that government work for the people with tax money.
The bid auction was conducted for gaming and loto, public toilet, abattoir as well as park and pay.
Winners of any of the bids are expected to pay one month in advance, effective 1st November, 2023.
Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AVM Ben Chiobi, among others attended the event.
