The Independent Corruption Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has disclosed that it has discovered a warehouse where empowerment materials meant for youth and women of Oyi/ Ayamelum Federal Constituency are been hidden.
According to the commission these materials were meant to be distributed some 2 years ago as some of the materials came in 2019 and the rest in 2020, these materials include sewing machine, grinding machine and hair clippers.
The Commission went further in disclosing that it had with it the list of the individuals who were supposed to benefit from this empowerment, they were reached out with feedback that they are yet to receive any of the above listed items and have been on multiple visits to the warehouse but couldn’t gain access to the warehouse because the lawmaker’s agents were frustrating their efforts.
The agents who pleaded anonymity said they were on a tracking operation of constituency projects in Anambra verified that the donation of an 18 seater bus to Akpu Community in Orumba North/ South Federal Constituency and the solar powered street lights captured in projects for Ogbaru Federal Constituency were functional in Okpoko and Umunankwo.
The commission also found out that in Anambra North Senatorial Zone that women were trained and got #80,000 start up capital for small businesses but the youths who were trained in ICT got #20,000 transport allowance and just one of the beneficiaries got a computer set and a printer but none of the 22 trainees got #120,000 approved for them, furthermore in Anambra North the commission found out that the proposed tricycle that was supposed to be used to empower youths had no evidence that the project was executed and this projects were supposed to be done between 2019 and 2020
